Online Six Sigma Trainer

Become an Online Six Sigma Trainer for Six Sigma Digest!

The following page outlines the role of a Six Sigma trainer as well as our expectations of each instructor. This is not the instructor agreement but instead, this page summarizes and simplifies the terms & responsibilities of being an instructor for Six Sigma Digest.

What is Six Sigma Digest's Business Model?

Six Sigma Digest is a dynamic business concept that intends to bring together two communities; the learning community and the teaching community.

We have created a structured online learning environment supported by the latest technology capabilities. We have developed premier training & certification materials of varying levels and characteristics. We have established an online presence and a trustworthy brand with organic traffic that continues to grow on a monthly basis.

Our initial investment is the same reason most really good MBB instructors can't get off the ground with their own endeavors. The up-front cost of resources (time & money) is substantial enough to prevent great things from happening for great instructors.

With all of the license & copyright constraints out there, writing & branding your own certification material is a daunting task that could take you over a year to put together. Even if you did get the material put together you then have to establish a brand, delivery vehicle, marketing campaign as well as an online or physical store front.

Instead, Six Sigma Digest has done all of these things and more for you. We are offering you a means to do what you know and love..impart your knowledge and experience to others through online training and get more than fairly compensated for it!

Don't get too excited yet! Our business model is also founded on a top quality and highly regarded online certification for our students. You'll have to beat some pretty stiff competition to become one of our instructors.

You should know that we expect our students to get the best available training in the industry and we expect them to pass our certification exam with flying colors!. We're not handing out bubble gum certifications, we deliver certifications through a training program that has been accredited by an ISO 17024 3rd party certifying agency.

MBB Instructor Minimum Requirements

Six Sigma Digest offers Master Black Belt instruction as a part of our Black Belt and Green Belt online training & certification. We have set the expectations with our students that they will receive top quality knowledge and expertise in the field of Six Sigma. Our commitment to our students is that at a minimum our instructors will be Master Black Belt trained & certified with at least 7 years of relevant work experience.

Demonstrating Your Qualifications

We request that you demonstrate your certification and work experience credentials in the application process by attaching your resume or curriculum vitae and a copy of a letter or certificate of acknowledgement indicating successful completion of MBB certification requirements from your certifying entity.

We are extremely selective when choosing our Six Sigma trainers. We prefer 10+ years of applicable experience and a minimum 3 years of instructional background. We look for mastery in one or more fields ranging from Lean, Five-S, Six Sigma, Design for Six Sigma, TQM and other quality management techniques. Awards, publications, patents and other monumental achievements are also highly regarded when we review applications.

What's Expected of an Instructor

Each MBB instructor is minimally expected to perform the following services for our certification candidates

  • Group Instruction
    • Deliver at least one 60 minute conference call each calendar month. The call is expected to be two distinct parts, a 30 minute instruction module covering any Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt topic from either curriculum and 30 minutes of Q&A.
    • Offer at least 3 hours per week of "virtual office hours" where you will be logged into our learning management system and available to all students for Chat Q&A. We also request you to post & respond to forum posts and any other electronic or virtual exchanges within our online learning management system during this time.
  • Personal Instruction
    • Guide your assigned students through the learning & certification process ensuring milestones are met and students are progressing as expected. Review any material submission they have uploaded and respond to e-mails from your students professionally and expediently.
    • Provide at least 60 minutes per month of dedicated & personal phone, screen sharing time for each assigned student.
  • Your Personal Touch
    • The previously mentioned requirements are the "standard ones". Adding your personal flair and individual style will help differentiate you as an instructor. We encourage this individuality and hope that each of our instructors are able to establish their own unique offering.
    • As an independent contractor, "how" and "when" you meet these minimum requirements is up to you. If you want to add a module or activity to the course and assign it to one or more students, you're free to do so. You can even help students navigate a live project even though it's not required for certification. Let Six Sigma Digest be the platform where you succeed in becoming a Six Sigma trainer!

Compensation

Based on our existing business model (subject to change) Six Sigma trainers will earn $600 per Black Belt certification and $600 per Green Belt certification. Payments will be distributed in the month following your students certification. The table below highlights three examples of compensation models and the minimum "burden" necessary to achieve them.

* Assumed average completion time per student certification is estimated at 4 months. Weeks per month assumption is 4. Income assumption is based on Black Belt and/or Green Belt certification. The above table is not a guarantee of income. It is provided as an example of potential income at varying levels of work loads and monthly certification levels and assumes instructors source their own student pipeline.

What's the Catch?

Sound too good to be true? It's really not, but we don't expect it to be easy either. You're going to have to source your own students. We offer self directed courses as well as instructor lead courses and you're not alone in competing for the attention of students. In order for any student to be allocated to you as an instructor, they have to select you as their instructor and pay the additional fee at the time of purchase. Then when they certify you will be compensated for the certification.
